Phil Cardi, Tim Schulte and Drew Ford have a combined 70 years of experience representing design professionals in professional liability (errors and omissions) claims, contract drafting and negotiations and risk management. Phil Cardi received the AIA-Colorado President’s award in 2003 for his work on the landmark case of BRW, Inc. v. Dufficy & Sons, Inc., and has twice received the ACEC-Colorado’s Presidents Award for his work assisting the design professions. Tim Schulte has been a claims supervisor for DPIC Companies and otherwise been in private practice for over 20 years. Drew Ford has been in practice for over 25 years, has handled a variety of construction cases over the years and has specialized in A/E defense for the last 15 years. Phil, Tim and Drew are assisted by three associate attorneys, Dan Woodward, Catherine Condit, and Rhett Buckley.

Firm Information

First and foremost, we are committed friends of the design professions and we recognize the value the design professions bring to our society and community. We speak the A/E’s language and we understand the challenges of professional practice. Just as importantly, we don’t work both sides of the fence – that is, we don’t take Owner’s or Developer’s cases against design professionals, like a lot of other firms do. We host a free bi-annual seminar for A/Es, and our attorneys regularly speak at other seminars and luncheons on subjects covering the A/E’s place in the legal environment. We are panel counsel for XL Catlin, Travelers, Hudson, Beazley, Navigators, and other PL insurance carriers. We also serve as personal counsel to many of the largest A/E firms in Colorado, because they know that we know the A/E business.
