Firm Information

The firm was founded in 1984 when Joel Collins, Jr. and Stanford Lacy combined forces to establish a law practice concentrating primarily on defense litigation. Since then, the firm has grown to include 20 attorneys with experience in a range of practice areas that include construction, premises liability, products liability, professional liability, workers compensation and mediation, and insurance coverage.

When appropriate, Collins & Lacy advises clients to avoid trial by using alternative dispute resolution measures and/or settling cases. Several attorneys are certified circuit court mediators. If litigation is unavoidable, attorneys defend clients before South Carolina state and federal courts as well as regional and national administrative agencies. Members of the firm are also experienced in appellate proceedings and have been involved in many precedent-setting court decisions.

The Collins & Lacy Construction practice group brings keen insight into commercial and residential construction defect claims. The firm’s construction attorneys have vast experience in construction defect claims, construction site accidents, and architectural and engineering malpractice.
