Joe McManus represented AGC in negotiations with AIA on AIA’s 1987 Ed. standard form documents. In 1997, he represented subcontractor trade associations MCAA & ASC. He wrote “Legal Analysis of A-201” for AGC. Joe is a litigator, an arbitrator with AAA & Chartered Institute (CIArb), and past President of the American College of Construction Lawyers. Dale Ellickson’s practice is construction contracts & design professional issues. He is an AIA Fellow. As senior in-house counsel to AIA Contract Documents, he oversaw new developments in HAZMAT, ADR, shop drawings, changes and correction of work, insurance, payments, and termination. He co-drafted HUD’s model architect’s agreement & advises states & universities on model contracts. He was legal counsel for AIA’s MASTERSPEC; liaison on insurance for A/E professional liability & builder’s general liability.

Our clients are domestic and foreign and include owners, developers, architects, and engineers, contractors, suppliers, service providers, design builders, subcontractors, governments. Our experience spans a wide range of projects, including commercial, residential, federal, environmental, airports, roads, hotels and resorts, prisons, hospitals, research facilities, and power and utility projects, and multiple delivery systems. On the government contract side, Joe McManus was law clerk to the ASBCA, David Butzer was law clerk to the Court of Claims and Dan Toomey was with the Justice Department. Dan is also a Fellow in the American College of Trial lawyers. Jim Carney and Daniel Felsen focus on litigation. Tom Carr’s focus in on insurance, litigation and government compliance. Firm attorneys are admitted to practice law in D.C., New York, Maryland, Virginia, North Carolina, Georgia, and Texas.
