In this session featured during AIA Trust Week 2024, Design-Build Institute of America (DBIA) members Rick Del Monte, FAIA, DBIA; Dana Pomeroy, AIA, DBIA, LEED AP; and Virginia McAllister, RA, NCARB, DBIA, LEED, NCIDQ, cover the basics for achieving a successful design-build project. They discuss the two fundamental design-build approaches and how they impact the designer. The session explains how to select a design-build project and what to look for in a potential partner. The panelists will review key agreements that need to be in place during the pursuit while a partner is being selected, and key points that need to be incorporated into the project agreements after the project award. Finally, the speakers will cover the roles and responsibilities of the design-builder and designer during the project execution.
